Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach to teaching individuals, most commonly with autism spectrum disorder, various skills including communication, social skills, replacement behaviors, daily living skills, and gross and fine motor skills. ABA is a completely customizable approach, meaning that your BCBA will meet with you to discuss what is important to you and your loved one to create lasting and meaningful changes. Throughout your time receiving ABA, a BCBA or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will administer 1:1 care where they will teach skills discussed with you during caregiver coaching sessions and collect data. From there, the behavior analyst will review data and ensure that we are teaching how your loved one learns best!
Natural Environment Teaching (NET) is a scientific and child-led approach which will look and feel like play. Children, especially our early intervention learners, learn through play. We follow their lead and find opportunities to teach skills as they arise in ways that our learners find fun and engaging. NET encourages generalization and maintenance of these skills, meaning that they will be able to leave therapy and use their skills with new people, in new places, and in many different ways!
Pivotal Response Training (PRT) is a scientific approach that targets motivation, initiation, multiple cues, and self-management skills. PRT uses your loved one's natural motivation and targets key skills for your loved one's natural development. This means skills taught using PRT will have a domino effect and lead to rapid acquisition of similar skills. This is also client-led as we identify teaching opportunities using what your loved one is naturally drawn to.
Discrete Trial Training (DTT) is a structured, rapid, and fluency-based approach that is adult-led. DTT sessions are fast-paced as the adult provides the instruction (i.e. "stack the blocks") and the adult would then use a systematic approach to teach these skills. There are many trials introduced in one short DTT session, allowing your loved one to gain more exposure and practice using these skills.
